The limitations of a graphic designer in the 21st century fashion industry ?

My believes on the topic.
In the 21st century, with mass increasing in fashion areas like streetwear and hip-hop culture, it has become easier for a graphic designer to become higher up within the fashion industry.

As long as the designer has a good eye to keep up with recent clothing trends, the ability to promote their products and has good communication with a manufacturer, the designer can easily fit into the fashion market.

This title has now changed as it was not a strong enough question for my dissertation.
